Consultant

We’re looking for a motivated and talented new team member based in Vancouver or Victoria to join our team.

The exciting position requires excellent writing skills, keen attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and an aptitude for success in the political and business community environments. The role will entail responsibilities ranging from research and writing to producing and delivering presentations to project management.

This team member must be highly motivated, well-organized, client service-oriented, and effective under time pressures. Finally – and most importantly – the candidate must be someone who values being a good team member and is delighted to roll up their sleeves and pitch in to support one another.

Framepoint is a boutique consulting firm specializing in public affairs, government relations, strategic communications and digital advocacy. We are a small, growing team of seasoned experts. Framepoint’s founding partners came together with a common desire to provide exceptional client service to a roster of dynamic clients. Our client list is broad and interesting and includes some of Canada’s most influential companies and organizations.

Core Duties

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Consultant is responsible for executing duties, including but not limited to:

MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Participate in strategic planning for clients, including the development of strategic plans, activity timelines, key contact programs, and associated materials.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, summaries and other materials.
  • Conduct research and synthesize detailed policy and issues for client consumption.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Drive day-to-day implementation of client plans.
  • Manage agenda setting, meeting summaries, and action items.
  • Ensure coordination of activity and efforts across client files.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and results of client plans, and provide recommendations on next steps.
  • Consistent reporting on internal and client activity.

CLIENT SERVICING

  • Liaise with clients and participate in client meetings and client correspondence.
  • Distribute materials to clients and ensure that all products are error-free and consistent with Framepoint brand guidelines.
  • Offer perspectives, analysis and recommendations to the client team and client, as appropriate.
  • Ensure timely response to the client team and to the client.

MONITORING AND INTELLIGENCE GATHERING

  • Conduct media, government and third-party monitoring.
  • Record and distribute summaries of relevant meetings, events, press conferences, etc., upon request.
  • Conduct monitoring of legislatures, committees, Question Period, and other relevant proceedings.
  • Support client outreach to relevant official bodies.
  • Other duties as required.

Core Conduct and Expectations

  • Maintain professional communication with all team members and clients.
  • Provide timely responses to client and team member requests, and undertake all assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all materials prior to distribution, both internal and client-facing.
  • Manage expectations within your client team and proactively flag departures from previous commitments.
  • Participate in initiatives in support of Framepoint.
  • Act in compliance with federal, provincial and municipal ethics and lobbying regulation.

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for someone with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of consulting experience in government relations, public affairs or strategic communications.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for politics, current affairs, and media.
  • Government or political experience an asset.
  • Comfortable in a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • An ability to register to lobby federally and provincially (BC).
